SOFTISAN® 645
Product Name SOFTISAN® 645
INCI Name Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate–1
Product Description:
SOFTISAN® 645 is a partial ester of diglycerin with natural fatty acids, isostearic acid, 12- hydroxystearic acid and adipic acid.
Chemical and Physical Properties
Tests Values Units
Acid value 3 Max mg KOH/g
Saponification value 260 – 285 mg KOH/g
Iodine value 5 Max g I2/100 g
Hydroxyl value 60 - 100 mg KOH/g
APPLICATIONS
SOFTISAN® 645 is a yellowish, high-viscosity fluid with a typically fatty odour and natural taste.
SOFTISAN® 645 is, in comparison to natural lanolin oil, stable against air oxidation. It does not have a rancid taste and does not change its appearance during storage. With respect to its physical properties, its neutral odour and its high stability against rancidity make it a highly recommended substitute for lanolin oil.
SOFTISAN® 645 is miscible with all fats and oils and with paraffins.
SOFTISAN® 645 is soluble in diethyl ether and petroleum benzene, practically insoluble in water.
COSMETIC FUNCTIONS
SOFTISAN® 645 has a high water-absorption capacity and is therefore preferably used in W/O- formulations for creams and lotions. When stirred with warm water, it forms an emulsion.
Its adhesive and aesthetic skin-feel properties are comparable to those of natural lanolin.
SOFTISAN® 645 is especially suitable for use in skin protection, skin care formulations and baby creams.
